The Baptist Church is having a Thanksgiving dinner for anyone who wants to go. It’s free of charge. RSVP to Judy Van Heusen.
The giving envelopes for the year 2020 will soon be ready. If you got envelopes last year, are a regular weekly giver, or have newly pledged there will be envelopes available with your name. Anyone who wants a record of their giving kept, or wishes envelopes for any reason, can have them. Those who have used envelopes before will automatically have new ones unless you let Carol Hawley know you don’t need them. Please let Carol Hawley know if you haven’t used them before and you do want them or if you no longer want them.
For the past several years, some ladies from our church have gone to the Festival of Trees Holiday Cheer Luncheon at the Century Club in Amsterdam. It’s a wonderful event every year with beautifully decorated Christmas trees, a delicious lunch, a shop full of nice and affordable Christmas Gifts, and a presentation about something interesting. Presentations in past year’s have included information on the honor flights for WWII veterans, new ways of helping people with PTSD, and a fashion show. This year’s luncheon is happening on Wednesday, December 11, 2019 from 11am to 2pm. Karen Brown is organizing a church group to go, and reservations are required. Talk to Karen if you have any questions or wish to make a reservation.
Carla Colbe, who owns and runs Just Because Boutique, is going to be presenting a fashion show of holiday styles and outfits at our church on Saturday, November 16th from 2pm to 4pm. Tickets are available for $8 in advance at Just Because Boutique or $10 at the door. Ticket revenues will be split between our church and the Northville Rotary Club’s social services committee, which was formed to help serve those in need in our community. We’re looking for some volunteers to help make finger foods for the guests to snack on. If you’re interested in helping, please let Jane Swanson or Pastor Becca know.
The Hanging of the Greens… This year we will have the Hanging of the Greens on Thursday, December 5th at 4:30pm. Bring a dish to share if you can and enjoy the festive program over a promise-to-be-delicious potluck buffet! The “Giving Tree” will be ready. Select a tag to shop for a local child. Shopping to help a specific child is so rewarding! We hope to see you there!
Poinsettia Collection to go to The Prison Ministry NUPC places artificial poinsettias around the sanctuary during the month of December. In November we pass around a sign-up sheet for those of you who would like to share best wishes for the Christmas season with others. We ask for $10 for your greetings you wish to be included. The list is printed and appears in the bulletins during December. The drive is sponsored by the Steadfast Class. This year the collected gifts will go to the Prison Ministry. During the month of November, Jean Auriema will be passing around the sign-up sheet each Sunday. We thank you in advance for your contributions to the worthwhile program.
